This blessing was written for an interfaith service of prayer and healing on November 4, 2020, the day after the election. It is also available as a PDF document.
The blessing may be done by two readers, who alternate lines, and who share the final line.
Be blessed, you who seek to make peace, you who stir up “good trouble.”
Be blessed, you who let grief for the world and its brokenness settle into your heart, and yet dance in the darkness
Be blessed, you who keep going on, along an unknown path, to a future that is not guaranteed, for you embody hope.
Be blessed, you bridge-builders, you strivers for community and the common good.
Be blessed, you who try and try again, who pick yourselves back up and keep on moving.
Be blessed, you who listen, you who open your heart of compassion, and refuse to hate.
Be blessed, you who speak truth to power and call out injustice and walk your talk.
Be blessed, you who are courageous even as your hands tremble and your feet stumble.
Be blessed, all you ordinary folks, living and loving, tending and creating, finding ways to bring beauty and love into this world
Be blessed, you lovers and menders of Creation
Be blessed. Be blessed. Be blessed.
