To say we are all connected is a real understatement. The “we” and “all” and “connected” are grander and more vast than we can begin to imagine! We – people, critters, rocks, air, earth, fire, water – are connected to each other on this precious planet. And we are connected to the gravitational pull of celestial bodies, we are connected to starlight which we see millions of years after the fact. We are connected to the vast unknown that is the Universe. We are connected to God, to the Holy. This is what the Call to Gathering is about – the really big picture.
Sometimes it’s good to see the big picture, to place ourselves in it, to get some context. And we are no less precious, and no less called to embody love, justice and healing.

Leader: Here we are. Again. Or for the first time. People: Here we are! Leader: But who are we who are here again for the first time? Leader: We are children of God. Of Creation. Of the Holy. Of that grand love that flows from a universe that bends ever towards justice. All: They say we contain within us the same matter as the stars. We are ancient and we are uniquely new. We are connected to all that is, was, and will be. Leader: We are the embodiment of the vast love that called forth all life, all darkness, all starlight, all of adaptation, change, movement, death, new beginnings. We have swum in the seething, viscous soup that became our world. We have gasped the first breath of air on a dry land, learning what it means to live as a new creature. People: We are ancient. We are new. And we are connected to all that is, was, and will be. This is who we are. This is what we have forgotten. All: We have come together to remember. To re-member. To put together. To make again. We have gathered to explore, to take another gasp of breath and to become a new creation.
