It is said that when people stand at the edge of things – the rim of the Grand Canyon, for example, or the top of a tall, tall building – many sometimes experience a pull from the depths, a terror that holds all attention; what researchers have come to label “the call of the void.”
In this season of elections, of vitriolic rhetoric, white supremacy, violence perpetrated on people, groups and planet, we stand at the edge. That yawning abyss of hopelessness, or fear, or non-constructive rage.
It is my hope that these resources can help your congregation navigate through the turbulent time called Election 2024. It is my hope that these resources will help you and your congregation give voice to the churning emotions that you all may be experiencing. Some of these resources are in the style of the ancient Psalms – the pouring out of anguish, fear, even a bit of humor, to a God who can be trusted to hold it all.
Blessings on you during this season!
